in all likelihood the police is not going to find that car driving around.... it's already in a shop somewhere being modified or it's on its way somewhere else

You are probably right.

My point in asking for the "look out" is in the hope that it was abandoned somewhere. If that is what happened, then the more eyeballs on the case the better.

Thanks!

Oops...forgot why I posted.

I am hopeful that since they were just rooting around in your other car and found keys it is just some punks that took it for a joyride. It may be parked on some side street in Manassass (where mine was!).

If someone targeted your car for theft...it is already parted out by now.

I was honest and truthful in my report to both the police and my insurance company.

This is the exact same scenario that happened to my brother's wife's car. Thieves broke into his Acura and saw her set of keys to her Mini Cooper. They took the car and it was found several weeks later. They were fortunate as the thieves only took it for joy rides so nothing was damaged.

I live in Southeastern VA so I will keep an eye out.

uhhh...I'll be on my way from PA to the Outer Banks tomorrow so if anyone sees my car, it's not this stolen one (see sig)!

Mustang Lvr I'll keep an eye out... you can be sure I'll notice yours if I run across it!

I'll keep an eye out as well. I live in Springfield and work in McLean. Same crap happened to us three or so years ago. Our van was stolen in MD at a shopping center only two minutes after my wife/son left the vehicle. It was found later that afternoon only because another vehicle was stolen and ours was parked in the same area. It was apparently used in a robbery in Washington, DC because our tag numbers were seeen by witnesses. Got the car back and traded it i for a new one. Good luck!

Call the police and give them your VIN they will at least put it in NCIC and if it is found anywhere it will pop up. That stinks, I live in MD I will keep an eye out!
