Default Question about the speakers in the car

I just got my mustang yesterday so I will get my pictures up soon but my question is do the speakers all have internal amps or are they pushed only from the reciever? I got the base cd player becuase I am swapping it all out with a car computer....

I believe the 8 speakers with the Shaker 500 are driven off of amps built into the receiver. The two extra subs that come with the Shaker 1000 are driven off of amps built into the speaker housing.

Now I have a question for you guys, the Ford brochure says the Shaker 500 comes with 8 speakers, but I only see 6 in my vert. 2 in each door and 2 in the back seat panels. Where are the other 2? Or do the verts have 2 less than the coupes?

The two in the trunk are only on the Shaker 1000. But the sales brochure says the Shaker 500 has 8 speakers. I have two in each door and one in each side panel next to the back seat. No rear deck in the vert, so I'm only seeing 6 speakers.

The door speakers (above the woofers) are component speakers - a seperate mid and tweeter so they are counted as 4 speakers. Earl

Thanks Earl, as it happens I was out in the garage with a flashlight checking the speakers out and discovered that while you were typing it That explains it then, there are actually 3 speakers in each door. Mystery solved!

The question was is there separate amps for the speakers or is it all pushed from the cd player. This is a non-shaker -500/1000 just the base cd player.

let me know

thanks

I didn't know the non shaker units even had amps. I thought they were strictly powered by the head unit.
The Shaker500 has all the amps in the head unit. The Shaker 1000 has the amps in the head unit and the subs amps are separate

Speakers don't have their own amps unless its a sub box (like the Shaker 1000) - and there wouldn't be any external amps on a low end/non-shaker system. Shaker 500 has "500" watt (and I'm sure thats a PEAK power rating ) amp built into the head or mounted somewhere just behind it to power all 8 speakers. Your non shaker head probably only has 25-100W power built into the head. So any after market system you add will work with your factory speakers if thats what you are getting at.
