If you can squeeze the rubber hose 2 inches from where it connects to the airbox, you do not have a vapor trap.

then I have no vapor trap... I did this the day I got the car... seemed to me if there was something after the filter, I woulda felt it... makes me wonder if ANY drop-top has the vapor trap.... and also makes me wonder WTF Ford was thinking when they put it in...

My vert had it. It's sitting right here on my desk protecting the ozone layer.

Is the vapor trap only in the v8's or also in the v6's? Just ordered my K&N air filter. Any other inexpensive mods which will increase MPG?

Not sure about the V6s, go pull out your hose and let us know.

Well..I was able to squeeze the hose 2 inches past the air filter so assuming I don't have one.

I pulled mine off this weekend.... no trap!... I was glad of that, I didn't have to bother removing it.

I did notice ford didn't bother completeing the intake tube to the bottom of the gril.. they just left ahole on the filter box drawing air coming up the front/side of the front fender. I'm thinking about making a tube to draw air from the lower bumper intake up to the air box. My 69 Torino Cobra GT didn't have the shaker - instead it had a hose that ran from the air filter down to a slot in the airdam under the front bumper to "ram" air into the carb intake.

Just go with a CAI and a tune... you'll be glad you did.
