Help with polishing C&L Intake
#11
I polished mine with a High Speed Dremel tool with a hard cloth wheel. Used a little jewelers rouge and the n cleaned off the excess with a cloth. Lools as close to chrome as I have seen (still has the rough finish). Really gets alot of compliments at shows. Took about 1 hour start to finish.

I've done some polishing over the years and what I've found to be the easiest and quickest way with the highest shine is to start by removing any powder coating (if there is any) with aircraft paint stripper, next I’ll start the sanding process with 100 grit sandpaper and then move up to 150 or 180 grit and then last with 220 grit sandpaper.
I’m not saying its right or wrong, but I’ve never wet sanded a part because I didn’t like dealing with the mess, I do use the wet/dri sand paper though.
I’ll then move to a Ventilated Flap buffing wheel with Emery compound on an electric drill which does all the work of 320 through 600 grit sandpaper or more, then I’ll buff with the Tripoli with one Spiral Sewn buffing wheel and polish with White Rouge on a different a Spiral Sewn buffing all with an electric drill.
I’ve had a big Baldor buffer and it only turned 3,600 rpm; my electric drill turns 3,500 rpms and is easier to move around the part is the reason I chose to use an electric drill.
