Default first time at the strip, tips and info please?

ok so im going to an eighth mile with a friend that has a very similar 07 gt so it should be a good fun race...but right now i need help on my launches...first off to the bamachip guys should i download the 93 performance/torque/race tune (heard the race was hard to keep rpm's steady) also what should my tire pressure be (295/40/20) around 27-28 or so? what rpm's should i try to keep it at on on the line and should i just pop the clutch, or pop it half and ease into the rest hard, then gun it? traction control off/on? should i take out my spare tire or leave it in for weight? any suggestions help a lot!!! (o and i couldnt turn anything up on the search for some reason?)

so far i have the c&l intake, mid muffler pipes, and a bama tune...thats it to my engine...3.31 gears (for about 3 more weeks anyways then going to 4.10's with short throw) and thats about all i can think of for now

Start to release the clutch when the last yellow light comes on. As far as the release, you need to play and it depends on the tires you have. Traction control should be off. I left the spare tire in just in case I had a flat going home. Try launching at 2500 rpm and then gun it. You may have to let up if you start to spin the rear tires.

Does your friend have 20s too? They hurt your times alot. Can't help you with the launch, as i just roast up the ET MT Streets and dump.

well i have the 18" fanblade rims with the g force tires...but these are wider, does that help and overcome the weight difference? and i can put the spare tire to the side, but should i take it out at the track or not?

Take the spare out and leave it at home. It's not needed..just extra weight to slow you down. I launch around 2k...shift at 6200 rpm. Run the race tune....which ever one is supposed to be faster. Lower your rear tire pressure. Take out your back seat also.

Idk if i would go that hardcore for the first time... but, OP, i would put the 18s on. Just because i know how bad 20s hurt performance...

Back when i had intake, tune, and frpp handling pack, (3.31s) i ran a best of 13.9 with my 20s, and was running constand 14.1s

The next weekend i went out with stock 17s and used mt et streets, i was running constant 13.3-13.4s and ran a best of 13.2

Up to you if you want to go through the hassle though. Good luck!

Does TN in ur name stand for Tennessee? Just wondering...

I would put on ur 18's and only worry about ur 60ft. Aim for a 2.0

I would rev between 2,000 to 3,000, find ur sweet spot so to speak.

I also lower my rear tire to 20 psi

good luck/

I'd say do a Bama or Bren TQ tune, not Race or performance tune. You're interested in a short 1/8" mile run so TQ is paramount, not HP.
