How hard to do a short block install??
I am in the process of getting a shortblock for my gt mustang from MMR and i wanted to know if it would be cheaper to do the install myself?? has anyone done this?? How hard is it to take the engine out swap some parts over and reinstall the block??

Horsepower TV just did an episode where they installed a roush shortblock in a new mustang. Really cool episode. Of course watching them do it made it look easy enough... but everything they do on there looks easy haha. They removed the engine by raising the car off the motor and tranny which looks like a good idea

this is something that i personally would
attempt..... however, this is only because
i don't mind having the car tore apart
for weeks at a time
start by reading the service manual procedure
and if you can visualize doing it, you
should be able too

go to http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/...t.phtml?p=1551 and that's a shortblock...just the block and internals with no heads or intake...

Hey
I have done this many times on foxbodys and it is very rewarding and fun.
You really need to have someone there that had the knowledge though looking over your shoulder..
There is really nothing hard about it but there are some details that you have to know like for instance the bolt pattern for the heads (how to bolt them down..inside out) to use anti seize on the head bolts because they run into the block where the coolant goes etc....
There are tons of these little things like this, but if you have patience, a manual and this board you are good...
Really it boils down to how fast you have to turn this around...
