Default Something seems to be wrong with the engine on my GT??

Well, i'm not sure what the problem is here. But it just started quick, just lately. The engine seems to be missing at around 2,000rpm in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear it seems. It's not crazy noticeable, but its there. Also, when letting off the throttle or downshifting with the stick, i will get poping noices almost like backfires except not quite as loud, but still pretty loud, mainly at the high revs when downshifting and letting off. Anyone have any ideas? I will bring it to a dealer if this continue's, but i thought i would post on here first, as if i take it to the dealer then i have to take off my exhaust and 87 tune i'm thinking so i don't voild my warrenty. But i'm very sure it dosen't have to do with my mods, as i've had them on for about 4 months. This just started. Can bad gas do this? I haven't filled up latey, but my tank is getting pretty low, fuel light just came on. Sorry for the dumb question, but i just want to try and prevent the 100 dollar an hour charges at the stealership.

The popping noise while down shifting is normal, in fact, for me at least, its appreciated!!! I love the popping noise. I believe theres an actual name for it, but dont worry about that. The missing part, I would have a friend drive it around whos good with cars, knows alot, and just tell him to drive it and see if he notices anything. Sometimes these things we think we hear, are all in our head and arent really a big deal. And then again sometimes its your engine falling out of your car, kidding, but just do that and see whats happening

I think it's normal and that you're probably noticing it more as your exhaust system "breaks-in". Similiar to how aftermarket mufflers will change tone as they see some mileage.

You could always try disconnecting your battery for 15 mins.

Not much of an exhaust system to break in, straight pipe lol. I'll try the battery.

I've had my exhaust on all summer long, about 8,000 miles. It just started, its not normal, engine is missing at around 2,000 rpm, and it makes loud noices almost as loud as backfires when letting of the throttle and shifting down.

could be crappy gas....run it out and fill it up with a grade higher than you normally do to flush it out. It will go away if that's all it is.

Put the intake and tune back to stock and do the battery trick. You wont need to change your exhaust. Ive never seen anyone be turned down for exhaust.

Dirty mass air sensor or throttle body perhaps?
