Question about TPS Monitors and 20"s
Just pulled the trigger and ordered my Cragar 610's in the 20x9 and 20x10 flavor. I also picked up the TPS monitors, american muscle won't mount the tires with the TPS monitors so they are sending it all to me to find a place to get it done.
I went to the dealer I bought my Car from and they told me to bring in the wheels and tires mounted with the bands on and they will program them. However, what should I look for in a shop to mount these things? Is there a special machine? Are there certain questions I need to ask when I walk in a tire joint so I know that they know what they are doing? Or hell better yet anyone in Western PA know a shop that can do this without hesitation?
Wish I still lived in East PA, I couldn't throw a rock without hitting a good shop, out here it's like a crap shoot, I refer to it as Kentucky North!
Well anyway any help would be awesome.
Thanks,
Jason

First off, I recently moved from eastern PA to Northern Kentucky so I know what you mean!
All I can suggest is to have the Ford dealership install your sensors from your stock wheels on your new ones and have them mount & balance them (AFTER talking to them about the style of wheel you just bought. I'd even call the wheel manufacturer first and query THEM about their wheel). My Ford dealership did the entire job for me for under $50 including finding a defective tire using their RoadForce balancer. You'll need the strap kits which include the strap, sensor mount and adhesive. AmericanMuscle sells them for about $18/kit.

I took the bands from American Muscle with me to the dealership. Brought my own wheels in. Told them to mount it all. You don't have to get the straps mounted before you go to the dealer, they can mount those bands on 20" wheels. You can either use your previous sensors or buy a new set. I had no problems with the dealership do it, and in fact they did a great job making sure not to scratch the new wheels or anything.
Oh and it shouldn't be a special machine or anything, you should be able to mount them by hand. So like I said, no reason you shouldn't let your dealership handle it. Get the wheels and tires shipped unmounted. Then take everything (the wheels, tires, straps, and sensors) to the dealer and tell them to mount it all.
