Default Towing with the S197

I need to tow a small trailer with my GT. Now, I know what you purists are going to say, but it's my only option. I inherited my Mom's Hammond organ, and she lived several hundred miles away from me. My only other car is not in good enough shape for the trip.

I see in my owner's manual that it can tow up to 1000 pounds, so I should be okay there. I'm really not going to tow anything very often, so I would like one that is hidden as much as possible except when I'm towing.

Does anyone one have a hitch on their S197? What has been your experience? What should I watch out for when I'm buying the hitch and having it installed? What kind of place does this kind of work? (I live in Dallas.)

Also, what should I watch out for when towing?

Sorry, lots of questions, but any helpful input you guys can give me would be appreciated.

Have you considered a rental car? It will probably be cheaper to do that rather than to have a hitch put on your car. That's in addition to the fact that the looks don't appeal to some people, I don't know how you feel about it.

Go to any AutoX or Road Track and you will see lots of sports cars with hitches for towing tire trailers...so its not that unusual. I don't have one so can't comment. If you PM "Sam Strano" he can probably fill you in, I'm pretty sure he has one on his car.

Sorry can't help with the hitch, but I would agree with getting a rental of some sort. Won't have to fuss with putting the hitch on the Stang, AND you'll save the miles during the road trip. But that's just me, good luck either way. Sorry about the loss of your mother.

Default Well you are in luck friend!

Hey dude, your lucky. I have a hitch made by Hidden Hitch sitting in my garage in TX. If you fill up my gas tank its yours and I can even help you or show you how to do the install.
It was not hard to put on but there is just one thing that was a real bitch...pulling the bolts thru the frame...long story...

Let me know.

I'm in plano.

Just out of curiosity, what is you're other car and what is wrong with it to make it unsuitable for the trip?
