How reliable are stick on stripes?
YESSS.... I pick up my baby on Wednsday, CAN'T WAIT!
As of now, all my money has been invested horsepower mods. (CAI, gears, SCT and exhaust). I like the look of the strips but I am not going to spend $1K plus on a paint job, YET!
For those of you that have already done this, how reliable are the stick on strips and do they tend to want to peel when you are waxing the car?

RE: How reliable are stick on stripes?
Save you money for the painted stripe I had the vinyl stripes and they started chipping away from road junk. I was an expensive lesson.

RE: How reliable are stick on stripes?
I agree with bztz4m. I had vinyl stripes on my last car and did not like it at all. I kept them on there for about a month before I decided to rip em off, I even got sick and stayed home from work that day to get it all removed .
My vinyl was about $400 and maybe it was just a crappy shop. Although they had done many tintings for me before, I will not use them again for anything. They even left some magic marker on the paint and nice big scratches from cutting the vinyl after they put it on the car.
Paint looks better and there are no edges if done right, and I was told not to get any wax on the vinyl ones when waxing the car (which was interesting). The only things with vinyl that are better than paint are lower cost and the ability to take them off.
I am getting blue stripes painted on my black GT becuase of bad hail damage and having to replace my hood anyway. I really wish someone would do a photoshop for me so I have more than just the one picture from that stripe painter web site, but no one even replied to my request in the chop forum

RE: How reliable are stick on stripes?
I did vinal on mine simply because I have ZERO patients but I could not justify spending over a grand on paint for a new car. I would rather put that in to go fast stuff, and the vinal kit only costs me $150. BUT...I do agree with everyone else, if you can wait, get the painted on ones. I have not had any problems with mine tearing up. It was actually a pretty quality kit. But once I get over the gotta buy this to make it go faster bug, I will probably start banking back the change to have them painted on.

RE: How reliable are stick on stripes?
I guess I need to take a few more, have not done that in a while. Don't have any underhood pics since I colormatched the fuel rails to the car, added the strut brace, brushed aluminum radiator cover, Steeda fuse box cover, shock caps, and steel braided hoses. But here are a couple of the exterior and one of the interior that are about a month or so old.

RE: How reliable are stick on stripes?
OK, ya talked me in to it. Just popped out to the garage for a smoke and took a couple while there. And no, I have no idea why my camera makes the car look orange and the woman's camera makes it look darker red than it actually is.
I picked up a set of the Xenon mirror housing covers too but have just been too lazy to find some place to paint them that won't charge an arm and a leg. First couple of places I looked at wanted $300 to do it. After that, I sort of lost interest. Will get around to it in the next week or so.

Yes, it has water spots...sometimes ya just gotta drive em' instead of clean em'.
Oh, and sorry Martin, didn't mean to completely hijack your thread.

Very nice... I love the braided hoses... great touch! Thanks for posting those.
A friend of mine has a red '70 Stang, and the camera makes it look orange too. Strange...
