I run 285/40/18's on the rear with a 24mm offset so they do hang out. With my FRPP springs after a while on really big bumper the tires would rub, I put some tokico d-specs on and just tightened up the handling on the rear and the problem resolved.

On a related note, what is the best performance tire in the 295/45/18 size?

there's not much to choose from. its either nitto nt555, goodyear f1 gs, hankook rh06 (havent heard anything good about them), or toyo proxes (all weather tire so thats a no no). all you got left is goodyear which is close to 300 or nitto which i think is a good deal and a lot of people say good things about those tires.
Thanks for your responses everyone. That setups is coming up within a month. I'll try to get some pictures taken when it's done

I have 9x18" fronts and 10x18"DD rear chrome Bullits from Rev-Wheels, OE replicas, and run the 255/45-18 and 285/40-18 combo with Nitto 555's. My rears are almost flush with fender and don't quite rub, so they are perfect. They hook up great, and I have 474rwhp on the 12lb JDM tune.

If only someone would make a Summer tire that was 315/40-18, it would have a 27.75 diameter height, and look ****. But no, Erik

I am now torn between running a 295/45/18 nitto 555 or a 305/40/18 Nitto DR.

The DR is 28.7" tall, and I will have a set of Roush lowering springs.

What do you guys think.

(Oh and I am not worried about the rain, I have run DR's full time before thanks)

If I were you I'd go with 305's. The only reason that I'm going with 295/45/18 is that I wanted 45 profile tires for the rear (FRPP handling pack made the rear suspension too stiff me me and f'ed up LA roads so I'm trying to soften it by going with a higher profile tire). That's of course not unless you have the same concern as I do
