Default 12.5@115????

With a 1.9 60' is what I ran tonight. I wanted to hit low 12's, high 11's, but everything felt good on the 12.5 run. You know how when you screw up a pass you normally know, and when you run a good pass you normally know? Well, that pass felt good. I tried launching harder (it was later in the night though, and it got cold here tonight, like below 60) and it just blew the tires off.

Mods:Saleen S/C making 440 to the tires, tires are Nitto 305/35/18 DR's (aired down to 20 PSI, heated up well), Tokico's with full hard in the rear, full soft in the front, BMR upper and lower control arms, relocation brackets, panhard bar, Al. driveshaft and flywheel, 4.10 gears (shift light flashes at the end of 4th just as I cross the line). I don't know, I am happy that I am into the 12's, but I thought I MAY be able to get into the 11's. The nittos suck I know, but what else am I missing????

Im sure you can get into the 11's. N/A s197's with gears running high 12's. All I can think of is better tires, and practice on that launch. Thats sick though 440 whp, man must feel awesome.

plain and simple....lower those 60' times and you will be in the low 12's for sure and maybe high 11's. I guess if the driver mod is not the problem then the tires are and you should switch to MT's ....just something to consider...maybe lower the psi a little more in the rear tires?

Yeah, MT's are for sure in my future. It's been cold here, so it's not like the track was hot, and the air was cool, we have had 3 days of below 50 night, high 60's during the day, so I am sure the track wasn't optimal. The Nitto's wear well, but (compared to other DR's) they don't stick for poo, even when warmed up. I have tried airing them down further, 20 is where they like to be. Even if I could have cut a 1.8, that would have put me at 12.3, which would be alot more tolerable. M/T's in the spring, for sure, if they ever get into stock, lol!!! The MPH should be good for a 12.1 from what I am seeing others run.

Yeah if you cut a 1.6 or 1.7 your times will be right where they should be!

They say a tenth off the 60 is 2 tenths in the 1/4, so a 1.6 would make me VERY happy, lol.

The more I think about how the track was, and how bad I know the Nitto's are, the happier I get. I never take the car to the track anyway, it's more of a street race car, we all know the track just breaks stuff, lol.

Just know that the runs were great and you did the best you could for the poor track conditions.....those are good times and your right I did read that about the 60' times and reducing that number alone would be a great improvement overall in the 1/4 mile times! You did great!

Are you a manual or auto?

If you are an auto a stall converter will greatly reduce your 60', plus ET streets will help.

If you are a manual, just try better tires and powershift, ie no lift shift.

Personally I dont like to beat on my car like that but you can drop over 2 tenths or more doing it.

Personally if I can granny shift, fully depress clutch, and run low 12's at 118mph, I will be a happy camper.

Might let a pro powershift my car someday just to see the result, but it isnt a consitant thing for me.

It's all the tires. The Nittos are a good street tire, but suck at the track, plain and simple. With MTs or M&Hs, you get them warmed up and aired right and it's pretty much impossible to really break them loose unless you're running under 10.
