Default how to prevent taillights from fogging up?

how would i go about doing this? it rained big time and had water get into the passenger side taillight. its permantly fogged up, so im thinking about getting new ones. i read a thread a few months back where someone put caulking sealant on the taillights to prevent rain water from getting in. will this be safe on them?

You have to get the water "out" of them first. You can alway drill a small hole in the bottom of the housing and drain it out. Also the hole will allow air to get in a dry it out and will keep them from fogging up. I had this same problem with some after market tail lights I got for my other car and doing that fixed the problem

take the tail-lights off, take the rubber lining out, get an air-compressor or hair-dryer (but not too close!) and dry it off, then go to a hardware store and get some better rubber tubing. for some reason, auto-makers cheap out on "quality" parts.

had a couple of friends do it to their stangs, 95 gt, 98 cobra, and 03 saleen.

so I wouldn't have to do anything with caulking in the taillights right?

well the rubber tubing would just be replaced. take the factory ones and get thicker ones that sit more flush and tight. maybe some epoxy might be necessary. just depends on how thick the piece of rubber and how tightly you can wrap it.
