I think the problem with 10.5's in the proper offset is probably the swaybar bracket. Just like the problem we're having with getting 15" racing wheels for our cars. A 17x10.5 in the correct offset would probably hit the swaybar. I'm guessing a 17x10 in the correct offset probably would, too, as they don't make those either. I would love to see a 17x10.5, or better yet, 18x10.5. But I don't think it's going to happen without going custom and relocating your swaybar (or getting an antiroll bar instead).

I think 11" is as wide as we can go without hitting the swaybar bracket.

I could put 20" wide rims without hitting the sway bar if the offset
was correct.
That would put a lot of tire sticking out of the side of the stang, but
it would not be hitting the sway bar.

To the OP:

Yea, the offset is wrong.
The S197 stock rims go this way:
16x7 39mm offset
17x8 45mm offset
18x8.5 50mm offset.
The wider they are, the more offset they need.
The SN95 that those wheels are for like 28mm offset rims and such.

Well what you see there is a 28" M&H Racemaster on a 17x9 from American Muscle. For daily driving, I have 18x10's with 295/45/18 Nitto 555's. They're over 28" as well.

On a 20" wheel. No way you can do 11" with an 18, let alone 17". If you go out and take a look behind your wheel, you'll see why.

I have the 18" rims. Fronts are 18 x 9" 40mm offset. The rears are 18 x 10.5" 50mm offset. The rears are almost flush with the fender. There is no rubbing at all and there is clearance for the calipers. I'd say its a perfect fit.

hey wingman, was looking to get 17s, but I think what you got there is the best I am gonna find. Can you link to them? I'll probably grab a identical pair. Look nice on your black stang, hope they go just as good on my Grabber orange with black stripes!

wondering if anyone knows if they will fit? Will probably grab same model for front, but in a 8 or 9 instead of 10.5

Any help would be great, and thank you.
Run away - Run away! Those wheels will make your car look like a 4x4. The offset of 28mm is half of what you need to get those wheels where they should be in the fender well. I been there done that, and had to sell the wheels I bought on ebay and buy some from Discount Tire on line with the right offset (50mm+). I bought the gt500s, that are 18x9.5. Be careful about this point (offset). Relie on the experts; I was happy with Discount Tires ( I have no connection to them). You're probably looking at the same company I bought my 1st set from; out of sarasota, Fl.
