Default Tires/Wheels On Now

Well, I got my tires and wheels, but what an adventure! Turns out, only Discount Tire carries Nitto in San Diego. So last week, I ordered 275/50s for the rear, and 255/50s for the front. And, I ordered 17x9 chrome Bullitts from MustangTuning.com. Everything arrived today. I went to Discount and dropped off the wheels and the car. When I went back to pick it up, I saw all four wheel boxes stacked right where I left them... with the new wheels still in them!! The morons put the new tires on the stock wheels!!! D'Oh!! [sm=chairshot.gif]

Needless to say, I wasn't happy! I stood and waited for them to pull them off, and remount and rebalance 8 tires/wheels. Geez... At least they had three guys working on it to speed things up. And their manager didn't seem too pleased either. [sm=icon_beat.gif]

I have some pics... but this is before we cleaned them up and made them nice and black (my son is doing that now), so they still have the white powdery coating on them. I love them!!!

Hey lostsoul... I can tell you that 275s will fit on the stock wheels, but they didn't look right to me. The bead pinched them in and they kinda rolled under on the sidewall. They didn't look symmetrical to me... but, they did go on there. I wouldn't recommend it... but it's your call.

Sure. Wheels were $200 each (free shipping, no tax). The 275s were $131 each and the 255s were $125 each (plus the usual little surcharges/taxes for tires).

Screw school... Been there, done that -- a couple hundred years ago it seems. LOL

After years (and years and years and years) of raising kids and driving family-man utilitarian vehicles, it is my turn! I bought this car knowing full well I was going to sink thousands and thousands of dollars into it. I can afford it... it's time for don_w to have some fun on four wheels again!! cha-ching!

Those look AWESOME!

I ordered my car with the Ford Polished Aluminums with that look... and Raised White Letter Goodyears to give it a little more "Classic" look.

Hey.. how did those wider tires fit on your stock rims?

Thanks PW, 1fast05GT, nitrojunkee and delurker.

Prof, as I mentioned in the top post, the 275s did fit on the stock wheels, but they didn't look right to me. The bead pinched them in and they kinda rolled under on the sidewall. They didn't look symmetrical to me... but, they did go on. They definitely look a lot better on the 9" rims.

The polished wheels will look great also. I initially considered the raised white letter look, but decided against it. First, I think I want to keep the car sleak, subtle and stealthy (to a point, anyway, lol). Secondly, finding the right size tire with the lettering would have been difficult (if not impossible). Lastly, the white lettering would be one more thing to keep clean (yes, I remember the old days).
