the billet hurst is stonger as you can see then the other there for you have less flex and better shifts i have it and love it

I have the MGW shifter, I think it was around $300, easy install. I love the shorter throws. I set mine to 50% shorter throws. It's still about the same height as the stock shifter. But you can customize it with an aftermarket shift ball or leave the stock one on it.

i decided to go the "cheaper" way with the hurst shifter ,and i bought the one from brenspeed for a 189.00 please help me with the install..i have a lift, but i have never done you have to remove the d/s? if you have any pics or advise, i would greatly appreciate it. i was also told that you had to set the "shift stops"? please explain

You don't need to remove the driveshaft.
You have to find the right angle.
The rear part of the shifter has to come out first, from the outside in.
It's very tight but it does sneak through...

has anyone considered powder-coating the shift blade black? i think that would look pretty sweet and hope to do it as long as it doesn't affect the performance of the mechanics.

I had the Hurst comp plus shifter and loved the look and feel of it. Notchy is correct. My girlfriend (fiancee now) said it was "poppy" because it clicks into place.

I had to get rid of it because of poor craftsmanship though. The pivot bearing was not snug in its housing and caused a bad rattle above 3,000rpm. I sold it and got a Steeda Tri-ax. The Tri-ax is nice, but maybe a bit too much for street driving. Because of it's size and the beefy design, I kind of feel like I've lost the good feel of the shifts. I'd love to try the Hurst again if I knew it would not be defective this time.

You do not need to drop the driveshaft. The key is to put the whole shifter straight down into the hole and let it rest on the driveshaft. Then you can get underneath the car and precisely position it. Don't try to put it in the hole and angle it forward into position at the same time. " 'T ain't gone work."
