The MGW is a great and smoothest shifter but the Hurst has the shortest throws in the business.
That's why it's notchy. MGW is also a lot more money...

Try both of them before you buy to see what fits you best.
I have the Hurst and am happy with it. No issues.
I use better washers that come with the kit and 2 extra nuts for an improved snug.
Done.

I sat in a Shelby GT with a hurst at a local car show and the guy let me run it through the gears. And let me say, I was really impressed! The feel is 100% better than stock. It was enough to convince me to order one right away. It should be here this week. I am itching to get it and do the install.

I still have my stock shifter right now, so I don't have anything to say regarding the hurst shifter but I just wanted to jump in and say congratulations on the arrival of the baby.

So what do you folks like about new shifters?

I must say I am not impressed with the stock shifters. Feels too notchy and "thick". Like pulling and pushing a stick through mud. My last 2 manual cars were a toyota corrola and a firebird and both of those had good shifters - smooth & fast. I feel like I can't shift the stock shifter very fast. The faster I try to shift, the more sticky & notchy it feels.
