Default Doing your own vinyl stripes?

I did my own vinyl black out on the back of my car now I am thinking about maybe doing my own stripes. Anyone else try it? It looks easy but maybe I am overlooking something?

I posted up some details a while back. I'll post up the link when I find it.

It IS do-able. You need to have lots of patience, a well lit, clean, warm place to do it (without wind or dust), and about 8-10 hours. To me it was worth it, not only to save a few hundred dollars, but the learning experience and satisfaction.

Here is the post I made, very complete I think:

I did mine about 3 weeks ago. I still have some small air bumps. Been trying to let the sun bake them out before I start poking them with a needle.

Not very hard to do. Just keep the car and the vinyl wet with spray.

I did mine, patience pays off. It took me about 6 hours, I had a heat gun which helped quite a bit in some places. The only experience I have that is similar is in tint. I am very pleased with the outcome.

if you blacked out the trunk panel it might look weird with full race stripes.

Or are you just striping the hood?

My best advice i can give you is to stay away from any type of soap. If you want the best results use a distilled water. When it dries, it will leave no bubbles of any kind.

I do not agree. Here is a pic of mine with full stripes and black panel in the rear. Maybe with non waffle panel it would not be so good I suppose. Maybe someone will post pics.
