Default New '08 purchase now.

I'm seriously considering purchasing a Mustang GT in the next month or so. First off, I'm wondering if there are any Ford salesmen/employees that peruse the forums here that may have an opinion on future Ford incentive packages.

From scanning several dealership inventories in about a 150 mile radius it's pretty apparent that there are a glut of 08 models still on the lots. Now I know no one can see the future but I'm curious if anyone has a gut feeling what Ford might do with these aging inventories. Right now they are offering decent cash rebates but financing is an "outrageous" 5.9% for 60 months. I'm hoping, come October (current specials end 9/30) that they'll offer some hefty cash rebates on top of low financing.

So, any opinions and thoughts on this?

I usually find around Christmas is a good time to purchase a previous year car. Not many people are buying a brand new vehicle around that time, and the dealers really want the older models off their lots. So not only will there be some nice rebates, but they'll be willing to lower it even more. The big drawback is the longer you wait, the less 08s there'll be. So if you're picky about having certain options on the car, waiting might not be such a good idea.

Good luck with your search. And welcome to the mustang forums!

Basically find one that has every single thing you want. Go in there and tell them what you want to pay and see what they say. The odds are in your favor.

I wouldn't expect any 0% financing now or in the future. I'm just going by the current financial crisis, which might be in part to such ridiculous interest rates offered in the past.

You'll be lucky if anyone will finance you a car in the future.

With that said, Ford was offering 0% around this time last year. 5.9% is not outrageous. I got 4.5% through my credit union in 06 and that was the best rate going at the time.

Get financed through your bank before you go to the dealer. You are at their mercy if you need them to finance you the car.
