BTW, my 275/50-17s are 27.85" tall... almost 3/4" taller than stock (and more than 1.5" wider).
For a 9" wide rim for the 2005, the "correct" offset is +45mm (6.75" backspacing). If it is more like +24mm, it is for the 2004 and older.

How about these: $150 each, free shipping, no tax... (same place I bought my chrome bullitts).

All I'm saying is that a stock tire is 27.2" tall. If you can smoke those with the stock 300hp, what will happen with 450hp on a tire less than 27" tall? Seems to me it will roast itself in no time. If you can find an 18" tire that is taller than 27", then it would be great... but, I never could find one. And I spent hours searching. I could have missed one, but who knows.

285/40/18's are 27" tall. I really don't think the extra .1" radius (about three quarters of a percent) is going to make a difference hooking up, especially in light of the fact that they're 50mm wider and a hell of a lot stickier than the stock (all-weather) 235's. The reduced sidewall with an 18" rim vs. a 17" rim will make a difference, yes, but I would think the extra width would compensate..

Gotta be devil's advocate a bit here.
