At 40, just getting ready to slam her into 2nd. Naw...not really but sometimes. During normal cruising, I know I have a GT500 but before that I had a 05 Mustang GT, 4th gear would be the best at 40. The noise you are hearing is normal for these cars especially with stock gears and suspension.

Our stock drivetrains are clunky. Get used to it or you can replace the DS with a 1-piece aluminum. Free's up a few horses, too.

40 mph in 4th.... wow that seems high.... I'd say 3rd but then that's me. Unless there is NO ONE around and you won't have to accelerate. Oh and this is with stock gears. 4.10 I'd imagine 4th would be fine.

Brenspeed kicked it up to 6800. I brought it down to 6500. I STILL bounce off it on the rare occasion...
