So basically and simply put just drop the weight and the easier it is to move !!!!! (this goes for people too)

I accept the 0.3-0.5 loss off my 1/4 mile time as I like these rims way too much even though they are fat rims!

Hence the reason for the S/C.....but I will trim the fat in other areas soon like the DS and the brakes (baer) and most all the rear suspension components!

Hufenstang cave in and get the bogarts!!!! I am sure you will love them though they will stress the drivetrain more as I am sure you know....JMO

I dyno'd my stang just over a year ago with 20's then took them off and added 18's just to see what the difference was -- the difference was 8 RWHP.

I noticed a difference in SOP from the stock 17's to the Roush 18x10 wheels; granted those wheels are pigs compared to others. I'm with the 1:10 rotational mass ratio; how much will it cost you @1/4 mile? Maybe a few tenths?

It wasn't exactly a style contest, and I don't think either of us tried very hard. The point was to show examples of light wheels for decent $. If you want better styles than that, you'll have to do your own web surfing, I don't have time for it. :P

For you guys putting down 450whp or more, I'm guessing the difference won't be enough to bother since you're already dealing with an abundance of power. Your issue I would think has more to do with getting enough traction to put down a decent time, than worrying about your wheel weight. That said, the science is there, and bigger/heavier wheels ARE slower. Whether or not it makes enough of a difference to prompt anyone to do something about it up to him/her. I just steer away from buying anything too big or heavy from the beginning, so it usually isn't a concern I have.

Thanks for the responses guys. Light wheels are certainly in my future, I miss the feeling of a lighter wheel and the physics are on my side. I'm not looking to shave off a complete second here but any speed picked up is happily welcomed. I'm looking at 9" in the back with some radials. Wide street tires don't really cut it anymore and I use 285 BFG KDW2's which are supposed to be pretty good. Either way, this wouldn't happen until around March, economy is slowing down my spending.

The bottom line is 20" wheels suck, for ride quality, tire expense, straight line traction, acceleration, braking....

The only upside is a low profile tire with a stiff side wall will give crisper turn-in

I'll admit the 20's look real sweet...up until the point where you get beat by 1 car length.

Dont do it bro, get your self some stock 17's paint black and put on some m&h race masters on the rear and call it a day. switch when needed.

or just make yourself some carbon fiber rims....
