Noob question. If you apply a buffing solution and it makes the finish glazed is the polish what makes it shiny after that?

are the scratches in the clear coat or in the wax?

On my VTX1800 I swore the tank had multiple scratches. A friend who does body work pointed out to me that alot of people who do multiple applications of wax actually have scratches in the wax not the clear coat.

We removed the wax on my tank and used a very fine liquid detailing wax and no scratches...they were apparently in the wax but not in the clear.

Don't know if this will help you but a little info never hurt either.
