Well I finally got the car back after a week in the shop. Turns out the service consultant gave the tech the wrong information AGAIN and I had to test drive the car with the tech on Tues, who once he heard the noise he immediately understood the problem and knew how to fix it. Turns out on of the exhaust damper mounts was cracked. I figured it was an exhaust issue from the start but what do I know, I am just a customer. I think this will be the last time I go to this dealership.

I also have a few rattles. Removed the hurst and one is gone. I also had a steetmetal sound. When i pulled the trans i noticed a 1/8 inch gap between the block and the spacer plate/shield between the trans/engine. Even with a push of my finger i could move this plate in to hit the block( oil pan area) When i put the trans back in, i put a small bead of RTV inbetween this gap. And no more rattle. You can also see this from underneith without pulling anything off, although it would be hard to put any RTV in there unless you had a long tube tip. The last rattle i got came right after i took off my Hpipe from the header install and i believe it is from a hanger or exhaust related. It is also at idle-1500. -Jon

Yonco,

That sounds like the sound I had. I have had to deal with exhaust rattles before and this one was the same.

Yonko,

If you just installed a new H pipe, check out the hanger on the driver's side. Mine was coming into contact with a bolt head on the tranny crossmember. I had to heat it and bend it about 3/8" and the rattling was gone.

Under what conditions did you hear this rattle?
