Curious about Hurst Shifter
#21
yah i saw that article. If i recall correctly, no one had a negative comment on the mgw but there was a few on the hurst. its all personal preference. The MGW is adjustable in the lenght of the handle and the distance of the throws. It is shorter than the Hurst if you adjust it right. Pretty much you can tune the MGW to your liking. Both are great shifters but you can always count on great customer service from George at MGW. Something breaks, which i've only heard of 1 time, he mails out the new part asap free of charge. Not to mention i have never heard anyone complain of the mgw having rattles. The mgw also comes with dynamat to cover the floor around the shifter setup.
It was a very informative article, but the only thing I could not find in the write up was, what adjustment, as far as throw length, was the MGW set at? I had been running mine at about 6 or 7 turns for some time, and it was fine. About two weeks ago, I re-adjusted it to maximum short throw, just for a change. I really did not pick up that much notchiness, but gained quite a bit as far as shorter throw....Nice to have the option.....

I don't know if you ever got around to the exhaust video I told you about, but check that out for the second and third gear shift....THATS what I'm talking about.....

well it seems im the only one dissatisfied with it. i say go for it. maybe i have that first gen shifter, (stock shelby gt setup) but a dozen or more other people cant all be wrong. personally im switchin to MGW, i have read too many good things, as i got that nov issue of 5.0 too, but im still sold personally on the MGW. But its the same as the exhaust story, everyone has their own taste.
