Default Crutchfield wiring harness needed? (new stereo)

I'm looking at a new cd player, Pioneer DEHP4000UB or 5000UB. Crutchfield states wiring harness C2R-FRD1 will be required. Are there any other cheaper harnesses available? I have the factory Shaker 1000 in my 05 GT, and really only want the new head unit for the AUX jack for my Zune. THe FM transmitter sounds horrilbe.

there is a way around it but its going to require cutting and splicing of wires and to do it properly you'll need to do some soldering and shrink wrap. Crutchfield includes the harnesses for free though?

Yeah, crutchfield provides everything for free if you buy the stereo from them. If not they usually only want like 10-20 bucks for it separate.

Normally they do provide things free. However, this harness is $130!!!!! OUCH! I think it did say 50% off with purchase of stereo though.

It's probably worth it if it eliminates the chances of the subs popping, and all the cutting splicing. I was just wondering what the other options are.

Thats the best way to go if you have the 500 or 1000 like you mentioned.
It interfaces the many sub amps to the new head unit correctly.
It not just a cheap $5 plug that matches the Ford OEM harness
but a sofisticated multi-plug device with interfacing electronics
for a painless professional install. Thats why it is more than the
'free install stuff' they give away with stereo purchase.
If you dont go the Crutchfield $130 harness route, you will
have to find another source for a Mustang Shaker 1000 to
aftermarket wiring adapter.

Or you could end up with an install like this CirCuit City mess.

Thanks.

I just put the order in. Bought the Pioneer DEH-P5000UB for $190 and the harness was only $65, free shipping and dash install kit. I checked out Ebay, would have been about the same price for "new" product and still would have to pay for the shipping and all the free stuff Crutchfield gives you.

Can't wait to listen to the Zune now!
