i am having a problem. i want to get a trailer to tow my track rims with slicks and my tool box to the track. i have found the trailer i am interested in, but have yet to find a hitch compatible for the GT. There are plenty of them for the V6.

if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I just went to etrailer.com, and got everthing I needed. I did have to swap out my Magnaflow mufflers, since they contacted the hitch. I could have taken off about 1/4" of the hitch, but decided to sell the aftermarket mufflers and eventually get a set of GTA mufflers. Anyhow here's my setup (complete with a sunbrella), you can see just a little bit of the hitch receiver sticking out.

Thanks...I just did the wrenching work. The hitch was easy, the trailer was a pain. I made it from a new Harbor Freight trailer + a scrap Harbor Freight trailer. I fits my 275 width autocross tires and has room for the sunbrella, tools, gas cans (if I move to track events) and other stuff.

If you really wanted it to be discrete (I thought of doing this) you could move the receiver tube forward about an inch and move the tow-chain loops to the back side of the hitch. Lots of metal to work with. I was going to do this but had an autocross to get to the following day so I just bolted it on and hit the road.

Nice trailer Jim. I bought a tire trailer from a Corvette guy, he used it once and decided to trailer the entire car (probably because he broke during the first HPDE session).

I have installed the hitch but cannot figure out my trailer light wiring harness. I used the recommended one, part number HH119186 from www.hitchesonline.com.

It needs power and they recommend running a 12 gauge wire (provided) to the battery. I haven't found a good routing that stays away from moving or hot things and doesn't require drilling a bunch of holes in the bottom of the car for wire clamps.

What harness did you use and how did you get power to it?
