Smile Ford Dealership Installed OEM HID Headlights

Hey guys...I tried searching for this, but since HID is too short of a word to search for, I was unable to find out if it was answered already or not... /end disclaimer

Anywho, I was just wondering if anyone out there has had a FORD dealership install the OEM HID Headlights AFTER purchasing the vehicle (i.e your 08+ mustang did NOT come with the HID headlight option)? If so, how much was the total price? Finally, are you happy with the results (i.e is it a big difference from stock?)

Thanks!!

Yeah the lights themselves are like $895, but I'm wondering if anyone had it done to their car at the dealer how much extra the dealer tacked on to that.

Yeah I had those, but they weren't working correctly for me. I was having problems with a bad ballast AND had a fog light out...the last straw was when I went to turn them on at night to head home and neither headlight would light. I turned the headlight switch off and on a few times and no go. I tried turning the car off and on, also no go. I ended up having to drive home with just one fog light lit. Fortunately it was a short ride and I made it home alright, but headlights are too essential a part. At least one needs to work 100% of the time, IMO.

As a side note - Matt from Stangmods.com has been MORE than helpful and has offered for me to send back the entire kit and he will troubleshoot it and get it working, so I will take him up on that offer and may end up reinstalling it, but I am just trying to get more info about the Ford OEM ones atm.

The aftermarket might be the way to go. I just bought ONE HID for $815 from Ford for my GT500 front end conversion. Standard GT HID's are $810 EACH. That doesn't include whatever else you might need for the conversion. I remember it being a $525 option on my '08.

Ok I guess I can answer this one. I added the factory HID's to my car over the summer. If you can spin a wrench, you can do the install yourself..it is very easy. You get a wiring harness that is plug and play. There is no cutting or splicing involved..Im very happy with the HID's. They are a big improvement over the stock lights and I love the look of the chrome housings. I got mine here http://www.steeda.com/products/ford_...pgrade_kit.php the install instructions are on the bottom of the page
