Question on Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors

Question on Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors
I've got the stock 17" rims on my '07 GT and will be getting a set of 20" rims soon. I am going to keep the stock tires and rims in storage. My question is do I need to get the sensors and bands for the new rims? ($325 for the set, I work for a Motorcraft Distributor and can get an employee discount) I know the light will come on in the dash, but will there any adverse affects to the computer or any other system if I don't have them? I plan on putting the original tires and rims back on at inspection time.

No adverse affect except the light or message. Some claim that you can take your sensors and put them in a pressurized tube in the trunk to outsmart the system. Personally, I'd get new straps and mount your stock sensors in the new wheels (or whichever ones you'll be running the majority of the time).

Just the light unless you have the message center display.
I have had no TPMS sensors for a year or so now with no side effects.
I left the TPMS system by the wayside when I ditched the almost
new 16" stockers. I promptly bought a tire pressue guage and
use it eguarly. Guess what I will be placing on the stang when
I decide to sell her. Thats right, the 16" stockers with the factory
installed bands and sensors. No fuss of removing them for the 18s I
now have or for the 17s I did have. They are as snug as a bug inside
the 16" stockers stored deep away in a oxygen deprived
atmosphere. Awaiting their new owner in full functionallity.
Thats what works for me and so thats what I did.
