Default looking to buy 2005 GT- questions

how is the reliability of the car overall since 05 was the first year of the new body style? Any known major issues? reliability of engine...this car has 55K on it. any drawbacks from owning this first year prod- instead of a more recent one?

i havent heard of any, but of course i got mine last year with only 10,000 miles on it

its been reliable for me since then, no problems at all. (of course the girl who owned it before me practically babied it )

if you can, go for a newer one since it will have lower mileage lol but otherwise the new model is perfect.

Got mine used at like 39,000 miles (it's a V6). Only problem right now is their is a weird burning smell coming from the engine. It's not a fire or anything and the dealership couldn't figure it out (go figure). I think it has something to do with my fan not working and maybe whoever last changed the coolant used water or something so when I sit in idle for while the fan isn't working and the engine is overheating. It's just an idea though...

I know it might seem pretty serious but as long as I am moving and air is passing through the engine and all the components there isn't a problem. I'll be getting it looked at again very soon.

This shouldn't be a tough fix. Didn't mean to scare you or anything...

Other than that the car runs like a charm, and I have a lot of miles on it (45000 as of right now).

same here, i have 72000 on mine and it was one of the first. ive added all the mods below and i just went to the track and pulled 13.95 at 104 mph and drove her home. also average 22 to 25 MPG and still the original clutch and front brakes so i say holds together very well

Purchased my 5-speed April 2005.

Little button on the seat release broke but that is it.

No worries!

Bought in Nov of 04, had a gas filler issue, throttle body went bad, and replaced the parking brake all under warranty. Had to get a new clutch and flywheel obviously not warrantied. Car just turned 30k miles has probably 200-300 passes on the track, I drive it like I stole it everywhere I go, been running drag radials or slicks on the car for the last 2 years and it runs as good or better than the day I bought it.
