Default Something is rolling around behind my rocker panels.

I am wondering if anyone has come across this before. When I left work for lunch a couple of weeks ago I heard a sound like something fell inside the front end of my driver side door. Then when ever I stop or accelerate something rolls and then makes a loud tap noise as it hits something.

I took apart my door and felt all along the bottom and I took off the rocker panel and it appears to be coming from the metal behind the rocker panel. It takes hardly any acceleration or braking for it to make the noise. Just takes a few inches of forward motion to move whatever is in there. I bet it is something like an acorn, but I have to get it out of there, it is driving me CRAZY!

I am almost ready to bring it to the dealer, but I am hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

A friend of mine used to have a Ranger PU. For about he first 1000 mi he couldn"t get the truck over 60 mph. Took it to the dealer, they spent 3 hrs checking it on the scope, finally the tech had an idea. He pulled the carpet up under the gas pedal and low and behold there was a work glove silliconed to the floor under the pedal at the factory.

Well if it found a way in there then there is a way out. That is of course it wasn't in there before it left the factory. You can place a high power magnet under your rocker panel and hope that the object is metal, but that's just crazy talk. I would take it to the dealer if I were you.

That's what I was figuring that I would have to do. I was just hoping to avoid that. Oh well, I have a recall that needs addressing, so I can take care of both at the same time. (And maybe see if they have a FRPP dual exhaust kit in stock. )

Thanks for the advice!

It was a marble. The Ford Dealer in Arcadia, Louisiana got it out. At first they thought it was under the carpet, and then they found it was was in the frame of my Driver's seat. My youngest says that he "dropped" it under my seat. I haven't figured out how it got into the frame of my seat, and the body shop at the Ford dealer told me that if I did find out to let them know. They had never seen anything like it before, and couldn't figure out how he got it in there. Thanks for the advice!

Cool, do we have the makings of a future Ford
assembly line worker in our midst?

Just as good as the lug nuts on a string trick.

Glad to hear the intrusive noise is now laid to rest.
And now to have a little talkin with junior about daddys stang.
