LCA Install hardware

Per the workshop manual here:
http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=65&viewfile=Lower%20Arm.pdf

I am supposed to replace some one time use fasteners. A total of 8 parts. Rear and front bolts and nuts for each side.

I called the local dealer and naturally they aren't in stock. They're also $59 for 8 nuts and bolts. OMG. Are you kidding me?

Can I get these anywhere else for less than that?

Not sure Riptide..... most people will disagree that the fasteners are one time fasteners in that many on here have just reused the factory ones unless they would not hold the 129 ft/lbs of torque required for the re-install. I think your smart for going out and doing it the right way the first time and replacing instead of re-installing your old fasteners for the LCA change. Now thats JMO and there is a reason that they are one time fasteners and quoted as such in the manuals- and its not just to make 59 bucks for new hardware....

The flag nuts are definitely one time use. They have a nylock insert which is effectively destroyed when tightened. The bolts are not torqued to yield; I think the requirement to replace them is just a Ford CYA move.

That being said, I replaced all bolts and nuts when doing my suspension.

The website below sells OEM parts at a discount.
https://www.bowenscarff-fordparts.co...s_catalog.html

It might not be the lowest price. You can google "OEM ford parts online" and many other sites will show up.

I got my part through a dealer who gave me employee pricing, but some of these websites were pretty close. I figure they are about as good as you can get.

Thanks guys I guess I'll just do a search and see what I can find. I was figuring $20-30 from the dealer but almost $60? Ridiculous.

mygt500 11-03-2008 08:11 PM

I agree its ridiculous but for safety sake its worth it! I just did a search many different ways and no luck on finding them cheaper.....sorry!

Riptide 11-03-2008 08:17 PM

Yeah I'm having trouble finding them. I'll keep looking for a while but I think it'll end up being ordered at my dealer and I'll just suck it up and pay the sixty bones.

If you use any of the discount online websites you need to use the full part numbers

W711504-S439 (supersedes W704886-S439) Lower control arm front bolt
W710089-S440 Lower control arm front nut
W704888-S900 Lower control arm rear bolt
W704991-S900 Lower control arm rear nut

... and you need two of each.

I replaced my front LCA a while back and I just reused all the nuts and bolt. Still have yet to run into problems. Maybe I got lucky, but I didn't see any reason to change them out. Just my 2 cents!

Holy crap the website itchy posted sells the same components for $25 before shipping. If that is really the same stuff... And I used the part numbers he posted to do the search. Then that is a WAY better deal than going through the service department at the dealer.

The part numbers are good, I just check them at Ford parts web site and they are cheap on it. Here are the cost at it: W704888S900 $3.56ea , W711504S439 $5.33ea, W710089S440 $4.35ea, W704991S900 $3.16ea. Don't know what the shipping will be but I can post ya the link if you want?
