Cams/Heads Vs. SC

This might be kind of long, but I need some help with a couple issues.

I am definitely looking for an increase of hp on my car, but I don't think I'm ready to drop 5000 on a supercharger yet. I love the way the cams and heads sound, and I know they don't give as much hp, but they can also be a pre cursor to a supercharger right?

How much would it cost for heads and cams, plus the install compared to a supercharger?

Could I just get cams and just run with those for a while?

I would need a tune with both right?

What are good brands to go by?

Like I said I know this is kind of long, but I've got the itch to buy something, and I'm really needing some help right now. Thanks a lot guys and I really hope to hear from you on this.

I like the heads cams idea, just get some that will support a blower down the road and it's all good

make sure u research the cams cuz i member reading people having idle issues with some brands...

+1 also look into cam phasers depending on how aggressive the cams are. Without a tune you can have oiling issues at lower rpms, also depending on the cam profile though...

Do you know how much or maybe a good brand to go with? PS...I always loved your sig eagle

Appreciate it man :D and i'm running Crane, but i've heard some good and some bad reviews about the frpp hot rod cams. I don't care for the sound but if you bumped the rpm some you wouldn't have as much of a lope, just depends what your after. Won't be cheap though, problem with an overhead cam motor. At least it's not 4 cams like a GT500... :)

make sure you research because some n/a heads have actually seen losses when throwing a S/C on, same with cams. Theres a reason there are blower cams, and then N/a cams. You wont get near the power with n/a cams and heads as you would blower cams and heads with an s/c and that seems like it would be a waste to me.

That's what I was trying to suggest also, depends on your application

heads are expensive. if you want to do something now, go for the cams. you ever thought about N2O?
