I noticed today that the adhesive on the back of the spoiler (the area nearest the rear windshield) is not touching down on some areas of the decklid. Near the center it's down, but toward the sides it isn't. I was thinking maybe this is because I only used the two factory holes from the old spoiler. Is this normal or do I need to do anything to correct this?

VictoriaRR, I am sorry to hear your tragic tale of the Great Spoiler Saga Trilogy. The spoiler should be flush against all seating surfaces. If there are gaps it is due to poor quality fit of the spoiler. You may need tape to keep it on the car but shouldnt need it to forcibly conform it to shape. Sounds like their prep work and painting is poor or at least inconsistant also. I guess its true you get what you pay for...

I am told by and have read opinions of body specialists who say only buy high quality products or you will pay for it in body shop labor if you want showroom quality. Or, in the case of prepainted items, you will just have poor quality because they dont do prep work before painting.

Many people IMO do not check their product well or maybe even dont know poor quality and fit when they see it. I guess they are satisfied with saving $$$ and thats ok for them. I do not fall into that category myself.

I have contemplated getting a GT 500 style spoiler myself.

After viewing many posts and professional opinions I am leaning towards going with a Cervini (considered high quality products by body specialists who have to paint em) at $210 and have it painted locally for about $120 on top of that. For my $350 I should be guaranteed the higest quality product and finish with minimal frustration (in theory).

Another alternative might be the Ford Performance Products spoiler.

Anyone got the cervini or FPP spoilers to comment about their quality?

I forgot to mention that you could try warming up the rear deck area, the spoiler and the tape with a hair dryer or just making sure everything is definitely over 60 degrees F and forcing it down. Maybe that will work for you.

Thats not normal.
Did you use 3M 4298 Adhesion Promoter or just plain ol 70% Rubbing
Alcohol to clean the decklid before addlication?
What was the ambient temperature you applied the tape at?
Did you insure proper adhesion with the use of weighted sand bags
to hold the spoiler down in the middle during the acrylic adhesive curing
process (started with the adhesion promoter)?

On another note, its funny how the Spoiler Store, Roush and
many others thousands of miles away from me can perfectly
match a current production factory color but my local bodyshop
whom has the actual vehicle right in front of them cant even
come close with 3 tries.

Too bad they cant prep the items properly first.
But the paint color matches perfectly, just not the quality.
Those are pin holes from improper prep or just plain ol
dirty air/equipment, not 'dents'. The surface had a spec
of oil on it and the paint said 'no' to flowing there.
