Default Question for S197 whipple owners

I just recently bought a whipple off of a forum member (killer deal) for my 05 gt. I started the install on it and the injectors are said to be 42# cobra injectors. So as I'm going through the installation I notice the fuel rails are sitting up WAYYYY to high (so high I cant get the Intake tube on the throttle body).

My question is: Does whipple include a "shorter" than a stock gt injector with the kit? And if they do can you recommend a set of shortys that will fit?

Thanks

The whipple kit uses the ford GT's kit 38's they are smaller however the 42 should work fine, I'm using 39's. My intake does sit up a bit higher but not enough that I couldnt get the intake on.
I'll send a pic in the morning. sounds like your almost done.

I have 60# injectors and mine fit fine but regardless of the amt of fuel they can inject something just is not adding up here and maybe the others that installed theirs can give some perspective or help on that situation..... sorry

Thanks. I called a place today and an installer I talked actually talked about taking a di-grinder to the bottom of the intake manifold!!!! No way I'm doing that. I also talked to whipple and they said that the stock injectors off a gt500 would work. The Cobra injectors look to be the same "height" as my stock injectors. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if I could just get the intake tube on there! haha

hey man you will need the shorty style injectors. With the way the whipples intakes are placed you can not install a tall type injector. So you will need a shorty for sure. I ran into the same problem when I bought bigger injectors for my whipple. The ones from a gt500 are the ones you need to get. But in a nut shell you need to find a shorty style injector and make sure it works with our newer style harness.

i agree with mustanglouie, there is one
other possible solution though....

you can rearrange the fuel rails so that the
fuel pressure sensor is on the passenger side,
this will give you extra clearance for the air
intake.

someone on this forum with a whipple actually did
this in order to mount a Y block for a fuel
pressure sender

I don't know ham if that would help him. When my tuner and looked at my setup when I had the taller injectors to install. We could find anyway to make them fit. The design of the intake is the reason why you couldn't put the taller injectors. Trust me we looked real good.
