Default What size tires are you running on 18x9's?

Does anyone have 255/50/18 tires? I want to know if they would look good on my 18x9 wheels in the back. I have 255/45's in the front and want some bigger loking tires in the back. pictures are great, thanks

What you can put on a 18 x 9" wheel will vary by tire but as a baseline I think you'd be fine with 275's.

Good luck finding a 255/50... I think 275/45's might work but probably wouldn't give you the sidewall you have in mind. Still, 275's or 285's in back and 255's up front = awesome.

Here's my 275/40's:

I've got 285/40/18 in the back and 275/40/18 in the front. the 285's look just a bit wide for the rim, so i'll be switching them to 275/40/18 to match the front. i'm on 18x9's.

Roushclone, for me the idea had been to get the width and diameter height you want in one tire size, which never seems to be ideal most of the time.

We all know that the Mustang has giant wheel wells, and a higher posture in back from the factory. I chose to go with Saleen springs which lower the car 1/2" in front and about 3/4" in back, which puts the rear wheels and tires optically, exactly in the center of the rear wheel wells (gap being even all around), which I like, and the fronts are slightly lower or tighter than that.

For this set up I found that the 275/40/18's look too puny in the wheel wells, that tire having a 26.6 height diameter. I went with the 255/45/18 fronts, and the 285/40/18's rear to get the wider rear and a 27" height for all 4 tires.

On your 9' rims, you could still have 255/45/18 up front, and cheat a 285/40/18 on the rear(you can cheat a size on the rears since the side wall pressure isn't nearly that as it is on the front tires in turns).

Or if your lowered enough, going with the proper maximum size rated for your 9' rims of 275/40/18 all around looks good. I just think that without being lowered an inch and a half, that 275/40/18's look small in the wheel wells personally.

The problem with going with 255/45/18 in front and 275/40/18 in the rear is that the car's stance becomes flat looking because of the smaller tire diameter in the rear, and no longer looks like a muscle car.

The ideal tire height IMO is 27.7 like 20' tires 275/35/20's, but those wheels and tires weigh a ton and slow your car down. What can you do? Erik
