Default Loss of power

So...

Last night I was driving out of work (about 11pm at night) and all of a sudden it starts feeling like there's severe hesitation when I'm stepping on the gas, almost like the fuel was cutting out. However, the engine was still running! I tried stomping on it, and it was like there was no change at all in fuel.

I pulled over to the side of the road, turned the car off, turned it back on, and then everything was normal.

Anyone else had this issue, or something similar?

Guessing its not the fuel filter since it only happened till you turned the car off. Maybe there is a intermittent problem with the fuel pump?

did your engine light come on at all? I wonder if it was that "safe mode" thing kicking in. Mine's done it twice before. I did exactly like you did, pulled the car over to the side of the road, turned it off for a few seconds, started it right back up and then I was on my way again??

Did you start your car and then just take off or did you let it reach normal idle speed before driving off? If so, give it at least 30 seconds before you drive it. A little longer in cold weather.

for me, after pulling over I gave it a few minutes with the car turned off, then started it back up and let it idle for a few more. once I felt it was good to go, I took off.

Well, that's the thing...I started it up, was fiddling with putting my phone charger into the power plug, plugging my cell phone in, fiddling with my iPod to get a song going, all before I started moving.

It hasn't limped or anything since, and no lights on the dash came on...It just kind of worries me that it's going to crap out, RIGHT after the warranty is up.

I get the impression that our cars are a lot like PC's running a Windows operating system... Every once in awhile we have to reboot.

It's embarassing when your hotrod goes limp.
