One more Whipple Owner Question
I'm going to have to run an email tune til december (my dyno tuner is moving locations). So for those of you that are running email tunes, who do you recommend and why. And Loots, I know you say VMP, but why them over the others?

i have 2 dyno tunes and 1 VMP tune. i am very satisfied w/ the vmp tune 462 rwhp/432 tq @ 10 psi w/ 11.7 a/f. 1 of the dyno tunes is for street w/ a little less power, and the other is a race tune that i havent tested yet.

That's not right, the JDM tune caused the car to die not the VMP tune. Go look at the thread again. The only down side of the VMP mail tune is that you dont get the sticker.
Justin will take care of you. Oh what size pulley are you going to be running?

Cant Brenspeed or BAMA make a tune for you? I know brenspeed is a great tuning and installation co. that sells many Saleens but I may sure they can do the tune. JDM is a great company as well I would still look into them IMO as well. Many members of another forum (S197 in the title) use JDM and they have a driver that holds the world record for fastest boosted stang or something like that.....

The 10 lb. pulley is a 3.375" on the first gen rotors, or a 3.5" on the second gen rotors. A 3.125" pulley is 12 lbs. on the first gen rotors, or 14psi on the second gen.
I can't vouch for the other tuners, but I have a Brenspeed whipple tune and am very satisfied. Still, I use my FRPP tune for daily driving because it's less thirsty.

I would use the FRPP tune for a while. It is very safe and makes good power. Then get a dyno tune when you are ready. Cant see spending money on a mail order tune when you get one with the whipple.
And +1 I lost 2mpg with my dyno tune compared to the whipple, under similar driving conditions. I did pick up 30 rwhp so it is worth it to me, and on a long trip I can just reinstall the whipple tune so no big deal.
