I think if your son felt any one of these short throw shifters, he would fall in love and never go back! Do a search here and see everyone raves about them... I love my Hurst.... but am an old guy LOL. Although my 18 yr old son likes it too, and actually made the T-handle in my avatar.

Airaid is the company that actually made the Roush CAI. You can look up Airaid on Youtube to learn more. I purchased an Airaid CAI and am very happy with it. I installed it myself and it took me a little over an hour. :-) I am planning on getting a tuner in the near future.

Whatever you decide is really cool and your son will enjoy everything you are doing for him!!

Best of luck on your decision!

UPDATE----
So, my son went Auto Crossing with the local SCCA-Solo club this weekend with the Mustang.
First time he's used the Mustang. He won his class last year with the BMW but the Mustang is a different beast.
He posted a 67.7 sec run then a 65.1 and then a 62.3...the car needs some help.

By the way, he put a big sticker on the hood that said 'S.S. Titanic'...the Miata, Evo and Neon guys thought that was hilarious.

Well, I'm waiting on a price quote from the local Ford dealer on the following...
Stainless steel brake lines
Short throw shifter with a choice of shift *****
CAI

I'll keep everyone posted
Thanks again for the continuing help
J.

I can understand wanting to go through Ford but if your going to spend the money for the short throw get the most out of your money and get a pro5.0 or an MGW. I think he'd be much happier with either and they both have a universal thread size so making it something your really like is as easy as going to autozone or jegs and finding something you like!

Talking

I completely agree that my cost would be mitigated by going through some of the many after market parts suppliers.
That's who I ordered the FRPP racing springs from and that was a great cost savings for me.

I have two reasons to go through the dealer...
1.I've earned around $70 owner loyalty dollars that will offset some of the cost (and I need to use them)
2.I also want to suprise my son. I'm going to borrow the car and tell him while I had it at work it broke down and had to be towed in to them.

Let the fun begin!
