Default Home Made Ram Air System?

First off I have not actually done this, just an idea I got from someone else.

There is a guy who goes to KCIR (my local drag strip) with a Late Model Camaro who did this.

He had an intake similar to this one:
http://www.wmsracing.com/wmsweb/05hvi.htm

What he had done was hooked up 2 foil duct tubes to the bottom of his intake and also had them hooked up to his bumper or grill or something so that it was feeding fresh air into the intake. (don't know what else to call them, they look like the tubing you hook up to your washer/dryer) I found another similar project with a cobra here:

http://www.corral.net/tech/powerplant/ram-cold-air.html
(This guy claims he picked up 3/10 and 1 mph)

The guy in the Camaro was running mid 12s and said he was otherwise stock.

So of course, being a cheap DIY project that might be able to get some nice gains, it has piqued my interest. Anyone think it would be possible to pull something similar off with a C&L Racer Intake? I could definitely see it with the WMS Intake because it is in the perfect position...

The air might be cooler, but I think it would create some weird turbulence inside the intake. All those bumps and sharp turns must not be good for air flow. This might actually decrease air flow... also what type of metal is that... I bet it conducts heat very well. Props for the attempt though... it just reminds me of some kid that I saw with those plastic extendable intake tubes on his old 300ZX. It was louder, but most definatly slowed the car down if anything.

Normally I wouldn't believe things like this... but it actually seems to make sense if you saw the setup. Plus the fact that he (the Camaro) was running better times... and couldn't find anything else done to his car.

Well they might be open tomorrow from 11-4 if it stops flurrying and dries up... and stays over 40 degrees.

During the Spring/Summer they have Grudge Nights at 6-10 on Wednesday and Friday, occasionally on Sunday 11-4 as well. There is also Heartland Park, but it's kind of a drive and never been.

Once the season winds down and it starts to get colder, they open on Sundays when it's warm enough and dry.

I would believe it.. Agent 47 sells the Ram Air kit that replaces a front headlight with a Ram Air scoop and I think claims the same gains. Which for the price is worth it but kind of sucks if your car is a daily driver and you need headlights. Cervini makes a Ram Air kit for my hood but you need to use the stock air box. One of these days I am going to install it and have a custom made airbox fabricated just to make my hood scoop functional.

That's pretty cool... is it illegal because it removes the headlights...? Or could you make it legal if you relocated the headlights?
