Fix a flat? Can it be trusted?

OP says he has a 2005 Mustang--no TPMS.
Fix-A-Flat can mess up the inside of the tire, but if you are in a bad situation, it might be your best solution. There is some "green" product available (forget the name), that is supposed to seal the tire but creates a mess that is easier to clean.

from waht ive heard it can eat your rims and tires. I would recommend only using it in an emergency then having your tire removed, rim cleaned heavily, and a new or cleaned tire put back on

I'd carry a plug repair kit and a 12-v compressor around before I'd use any of the aerosol repairs.
Neither plugs nor aerosols can fix the sort of damage that curbs, potholes, and road debris bigger than individual nails or screws can cause . . . just a thought . . .
Edit - I seem to recall something about aerosol repairs (some use flammable gases), and that you must let the shop know about the aerosol before they break down the tire to do a proper repair.

The Fix-a-Flat and other products like it are fine in a real emergency but, as stated earlier, the material will cause balance problems so it'll need to be removed when the tire is properly repaired.
In the event of anything beyond a simple puncture (i.e., sidewall tear or LARGE hole thru the tread) your not going anywhere w/o a spare.
