Default HID fog lights

well ive done a search a couple of times and came up with nothing. For those of you who have put true HID's in the fog lights where did you mount the ballast and hide all the wires? im planning on buying myself a little christmas present and just wanted to get some advice before i jump into the project.

Just curious if you intend to use these as fogs or driving lights. If fogs, then you're defeating the purpose by trying to put anything brighter or a "colder" color since the Stang fog's reflectors are not suited for a driving light. Their pattern is short and wide and no bulb change will correct that. You'll need to change the reflector if you want driving lights.

Sorry for not answering your question but I see people put cooler bulbs in their fogs thinking they're getting driving lights and end up very disappointed with the results. Especially in bad weather when they end up with a ton of glare.

I have them installed in mine. I used a slim line package so mounting the ballast and hiding the wires was easier.

Nuke- Or you can do what I did...reangle the fogs...duh. They're adjustable, just angle them up and you have perfectly good driving lights.

Sorry but the reflectors' pattern is wide and short. You may be able to angle them up but that doesn't change the pattern. Driving lights are supposed to overthrow your headlights which the fogs reflector won't do. I figure there's a replacement assembly out there that'll do the trick. Otherwise, the stock fogs with anything other than a warmer bulb is just for show.

Now, if you want to get some real use as fog lights try a set of Hella Optilux or Nokya Hyper Yellow at 2500k. Great contrast in really dense fog and heavy snow.

And now, back to the OP's post...

PIAA sells a set of driving lamps for people that want to change their fogs to driving lamps. They look the same and bolt up to the stock location.

I cant believe you guys are having issues with mounting the ballasts. I have the fat regular ballasts and they literally lay on top the fogs sandwiched between the rad cover and the fog. They do not move at all. No need for screws or tape. Just put the rad cover back on and the setup is complete. Painless really.

BTW for any HID kit run a relay harness, unless you feel like frying a switch or the entire circuit. HID consumes less power than halogen but on start up it will consume almost 2x the amperage for 30seconds - 1.5minutes depending on the temperature outside. You can run withought a relay harness for a short period of time but for 15bux its very cheep insurance.

I bought my harnesses at a local "speed" shop for 15 bux each, all crimped and ready to plug in.
