Royal Purple issue
ok first off i switched from mobile 1 to royal purple about a week ago and ever since i put the royal purlple in ive noticed that there is more smoke coming from the exhaust. it doesnt smell like and engine that is burning oil. i thought it might go away after a day or 2 but its still there, and it happens all the time not just when the engine is cold even after i drive to work witch is about 30 minutes. anyone else have this problem or think its anything i should wory about??

A few people have told me not to run the royal purple motor oil, they say all the other RP fluids are good but the oil isn't. I'd stick with mobile1 or if u really wanna take care of your can get some amsoil, that's pretty much the best stuff u can run. Also amsoil makes a race oil (not sure what it's called) it comes in a black bottle, and it has extra zinc for lubrication. We need all the zinc we can get in these motors since it's just a cam inside of an aluminum head, no cam bearings. But that's more for crazy boosted applications me think. I'd say switch back and see what happens, also what color is the smoke?

Ive been using royal purple since day one in both of my mustangs and used it in my cummins, no problems yet.
The cummins had over 260,000 miles on it, ran at 10-20 psi boost almost all the time, frequently saw 45-50 psi, and only used about a quart between changes.
Neither mustang has used a drop since new. I changed my cams and saw no abnormal wear. So far so good.

It's nice to know that a lot of you RP users are having no problem but I'm sure that's not making the OP feel any better.
To the OP, if the smoking continues, I'd drain it and put Mobil1 back in plus a new filter and hope it goes away. I can't begin to think of why you'd see smoke. The 2 oils should be compatible. Other than that, it sounds like you're getting some blow-by which shouldn't be RP-specific...

It's beginning to sound more like vapor from condensation. Take her out for a 20 mile highway ride and see if it doesn't clear up. Being from the north, we can have steam (NOT smoke) that'll make you think the cars behind you have disappeared.
