I like it and I think the stock shifter is lame, but I think I'd rather use $500 bucks for something else.

I have a question for you all....I've heard both sides but does shifting an auto, hard on the transmission. If one was to do it often, would there be any after effects?

An auto doesn't belong anywhere near a sporty car IMO. I'll make exceptions for dual clutch paddle shifted "autos".

They make that conversion for the stang, but it's pricey, the FR500 has a transmission that you clutch into 1st, and just shift after that. For a measley 17k

Manually shifting makes the car sound so much better and perform better on the street. But it's kind of hard to do with the stock shifter. I've been waiting for something like this for a long time. B&M are supposedly still going to come out with theirs.

To those who say, if you want to shift get a manual. Easier said than done. Unless you like to lose MANY thousands in the trade. It's much better IMO to have best of both worlds and an auto w/ ratchet shifter is just that. So stop hatin'!

So how does "shifting" really work on an auto, and what are the benefits? I'm curious to know since I have an auto myself.
