What was your VERY FIRST car?

RE: What was your VERY FIRST car?
==I miss the V8. It was a cool truck. It is one of the reasons I ordered the Mustang.==
It sounds like a sweet ride! I really hate selling my cars. I DESPISE it. If I had the room, I'd still have every car and bike I'd ever owned.
==My very first car was a 1970 Cougar, with a 351 Cleveland.==
I think I remember you posting about that before, I had a '69 Cougar Eliminator for many years. I was the regional director for the Cougar Club of America in fact. That was many years ago. Yet one more car I regret having sold!

RE: What was your VERY FIRST car?
Believe it or not I was 15 and it was 66 mustang GT, yes they made them even back then.
About the only difference was a drivers side remote mirror and front disc brakes.
I got in about 1977, we paid 500.00 for it, thats all my stingy assed dad would spend on a car.
It was in pretty bad shape, had to stop twice on the way home to jump it off (bad alt.)
The dip**** who had it had tires too big for it so he customized the front fender flares with vise grips for the needed clearance.
It had orange deep **** carpet.
Did all the restoration myself, replaced both front fenders, hood, trunk lid, entire dash (same dip**** BEAT the radio hole to fit a huge radio). Parts were pretty easy to find back then. Rebuilt the engine (302), replaced the auto trans., replaced the seats, did all the body work and had it painted like a shelby GT350 for 500.00.
Other than that, it was in good shape

1966 Ford LTD 4-door in mint condition. My dad bought it from an old lady. It was loaded for a '66--390 2 barrel, power steering, power brakes, AC. He bought it for $675 in 1977.

1963 Chevy Impala, White, Ice Blue interior, 287(?). It was 14 years old and had 14000 original miles. A true "little old lady" story.
Needed paint (oxidation) and new tires (dry rot) but it was nice perfect otherwise. Paid $400. I was young and stupid. My Dad offered me the 74 Plymouth Valiant or keep the Impala (he was trading a year or so later)... I took the stupid Valiant. Worst decision of my life! Dang it, what'd you have to go off and remind of that for? [:'(]
GT's coming, GT's coming, GT's coming.. there, I feel better now.

RE: What was your VERY FIRST car?
Good Post dude!
1973 Mercury Capri, German import. British racing green/tan interior. Four banger/good 2.0 liter/3 speed automatic(four if you count the reverse)
Parents bought it for $475.00 from a retired man(in 1977) in a trailer park near downtown San Antonio.
First thing I installed was an Audiovox 8 track player. Thought I was cool with these bulky 8 tracks laying on the passenger seat. RUSH 2112!
Sold it three years later for 800.00 to a chick. Learned to work on vehicles on that car.
Oh, the memories....
