I developed this issue after about two years. I brought it in to the dealership and they fixed it under warranty. Unfortunately, I put on an aftermarket hood soon after, so I can't say how the repair has held up.

Like someone mentioned, this is NOT an issue with the whole car, just the hood. Personally, I would not let an issue like this keep you from buying the car.

I've had my car for two and a half years and 45,000 miles and have not had any issues (other than the hood) that couldn't be attributed to some aftermarket part I installed. Overall, the car has been very reliable.

I own an 05 gt convertible made in may of that year, one of the first convertibles off the line, the underside of the hood at the very front where the metal is folded under and tacked up , the paint started bubbling within a year in a couple of spots. I have'nt done anything with it yet cause it has'nt really spread. it is the only place on the body where its happened.

When i first started looking for a used GT mustang I went all over the place and printed out ads of the 14 cars in my area I wanted to check out. All were 05 - 07 models. out of the 14 cars, 9 had rust on the front hood just under the front lip some where between the factory fogs. One car in particular that i was very interested in was sitting in the dealer used car showroom....beautiful car...'05 Windveil Blue GT with 13K miles on it..rust bubbles all over the front lip of the hood that the dealership said they never noticed before. So I think this is a prominent issue. My sister has an '07 V6 that has this issue as well. All the cars i noted are all in Florida..

I would not let this hood paint bubbling issue deter you from buying the car!! I have had other little nuisance issues with mine..BUT i would buy this car all over again because the FUN FACTOR is too great to ignore!!

Another one! I was just outside looking my car over, and I noticed the bubbling at the edge of the hood, at the top of the edge and where it rolls underneath. Silver 2006 GT, 23,000 miles, 2 years, 3 months of ownership. Will be calling the dealer to fix it tomorrow...

I had the same problem. Bubbling on the front lip on the passenger side. Ford replaced the hood and paid the body shop to paint and install it.

I would not let that stop you from buying the car. The fun factor outweighs this issue.

How did you go about having Ford replace this, I can imagine they would be very standoffish?

How bad was the bubbling, how noticeable, do you have any before/after pictures?

I have no problems with mine,I think one problem could be a stone chip not fixed, alum is really bad for oxidation.
