First, check for anything loose in the linkage between shifter and tranny. Then refresh your tranny fluid... Royal Purple Synchromesh is a good fluid. Your fluid could be getting old & sludgey, causing the synchros to act up, thus causing the shifter to move as you describe... get under the car and have a look!

My stock shifter never did that. I kind of liked my stocker, you could jam the **** out of those gears hehe. With the hurst, not only does it move around but the 1st-2nd shift is kinda iffy. I have to take it kinda slow so it doesn't grind gears. JMO

check and see if the two bolts holdin the handle in place are loose, if they are thats were your getting the play from and might also be the reason ur having trouble getting into gear. i have an 08 gt with the hurst i had that same problem i pulled the bolts put some lock tight on and tightened them up and havent had any issues yet and that was 2000 miles ago.

and to 07torchredgt go to any race school or ask any pro racer you are not really suppose to leave your hand on the shifter that tends to contribute to causing it to loosen up faster. That goes for both OEM and aftermarket. And if ur car is still under warranty it cost you nothing to fix the problem! most dealership would rather ford esp to pay rather than the customer. and why do u call them stealerhip? ford dealership, ford esp(warranty department), and ford motor credit are different from one another!
