Default Hurst vs Pro 5.0 (Shelby, others)- opinions please

Hello-
Did a search without an answer to the question I have>

I have a Hurst shifter in my 08 Bullitt.

Of course it rattles at some RPM. Annoyingly so. But that isn't my problem.

It has a really wide "gate" or side to side (lateral) movement- during movement.

I do like the "ratcheting" feel of the shifter fore and aft, but the slop side to side "into and out of gears" - well, from your experience- is there is better out there?

Thanks- Steve

well i have a steeda tri-ax in my gt500...it had a great semi ratcheting feel into the gears...lets just say u kno where ur throwing ur shift....u def. arent searching for gears...when the shifter is in gear i would say you can move the handle about 1/4 back and forth...a little more movement then i would like while in gear but i dont kno if anything out there is tighter...? i am happy w/ the steeda and like the smooth-race feel...not like butter but not 2 hard where u have 2 muscle it....

hope this helps

I had a Pro 5.0 shifter in my other Mustang and loved it. It is the way to go if you are banging gears. I have the Hurst Shifter in my Shelby GT and absolutely love it for a different reason. It just feels better. Mine doesn't rattle or have too much side to side movement. I love the way it snicks from gear to gear in an old school way. But hey, I am old school, I'm 60 years old.

Sweet Jesus- as soon as I posted this- I figgin saw the thread for the "People with Steeda Please enter thread"- so this may be redundant

SORRY

In reality- the Hurst is positive, but "sloppy" feeling side to side in and out of the gears

I can live with the rattle, I just want a tight positive no play feel

Cheers

i have a pro 5.0 and have driven 1 other GT w/ a hurst. the hurst felt more notchy, where the pro 5.0 felt smoother, but my pro 5.0 is harder to get into 5th and reverse. i didnt experience the side to side movement if you are refering to while it's in gear. some like the hurst notchy feel. i like how the pro 5.0 goes real easy into 3rd from 2nd. most people i hear of on forums like the MGW but i've never driven one so idk.

when shifting the steeda is tight...the only play is when u grab it in gear and try 2 move it side 2 side...when pulling back on my tri-ax it moves in a straight line and doesnt miss...i dont think u can go wrong w/ steeda...
