I ran a friends 2006 GTO when I had 3.55 gears and stock cams. all the same mods in my sig.

We both roooolled off the line real slow and hit it. We both hit second gear at the same time and started to wind it out. Halfway through second gear my car fell flat on it's face at 5500 rpm. We're neck and neck looking at each other and my friend gets a huge grin because he knew I was out of powerband. he pulled ahead, hit third and gained a car length on me.. end of race....

With my cams and gearing now... bye bye LS2 GTO . Lost contact with him and haven't had a rematch... yet.

Cost/install/tuning/pain and SUFFERING. All these things will be involved. Get ready. It will be worth it in the end but man...

Figure $700 for the cams, $500 for installation, and another ~$500 for a "dyno" tune which is a NECESSITY.

Then you're going to have to relearn how to drive your car because the powerband is going to be higher up.

And 4.10 gearing is also required to get the car moving with the lopey idle.

With all the right "pieces" it's heaven but if you leave anything out it will be hell.

I wouldn't touch aftermarket cams with a ten-foot pole unless you have:

1. 4.10 gears and/or a stall converter with automatic trans

2. $2000 and the time for custom dyno tuning

this is my honest opinion.

Futhermore, if I ever want to sell my car, the stock cams will have to be reinstalled because no one will want a late-model "hot rod"

Why must you have an auto?

sorry, misunderstanding. you will want either 4.10 gears with a manual transmission OR a stall converter with automatic transmission.

If you have ever been close to a dragster, you can hear the lope during the idle.

Here is mine.

Performance and a nice sound at idle.
