Default Manual/Standards Chime in :)

Okay, so I've got the VERY limited t5 tranny in my little sixxer, and I've recently developed a liking for road racing.

Problem is the two don't seem to mix very well. I have a strategy that works, but I know at some point the tranny is going to limit me more than anything.

So with that said, I've been looking around and reading into lubricants for problem transmissions. Came across the redline oil.

Any of you guys use this stuff?

All four of my cars are 5-speed manual.

The Mustang has its OE fill (whatever that might be), I think the two FWD cars have Valvoline, and the other RWD car (V8 350-ish HP) uses GM Synchromesh lube in its Tremec 3550.

What doesn't the T5 like to do nicely?

You're in luck, Reaper - different state and I'm not into vanity plates anyway. Most folks wouldn't fully pick up on something like "NOAUTOS" anyway.

My main "beef" with the T5 is that it's NOISEY! There's the TSB (08-05?) about the "helicopter" sound @ 40 mph in 4th gear, along with generic rattling thru the shifter, etc. The T5 is actually one the MAIN reasons (along with a BAD case of V8 envy) why I've discontinued modding my V6 Mustang.. I'm selling it to buy a GT in the next couple of months! I can't justify spending any more on performance & appearance mods only to have it sound like a "rattle trap" when I drive it... and ALWAYS be 100HP shy!

I know how you feel, I had an 06 v6 5spd and couldn't stand the tranny, I guess that's why I went with the auto on my current one. However, I realize that the 3650 in the GTs are better and maybe I should have purchased a 5spd after all but they were going for a lot more at the time.......oh well. I still love my AUTO!!!!

On that note, just out of curiosity, has anyone ever changed their auto to a manual be any chance. Anyone know what it would cost or take to do a change over.

I've never heard somebody say they prefer an auto for road racing. Downshifting helps braking, they are easier to modulate the torque band. To each his own I guess.
